This is the second half of my review on Glass Castle. This memoir is a must-read if you enjoy stories about resilience in the face of adversity and self-determination. In the story I left off with the family arriving in Welch. Life wasn't going to be any easier in Welch, and the children started to understand why Rex didn‘t want to return to his hometown. Jeannette struggled to make friends and took an interest in the school newspaper.

Since my last post of The Flick I have made some progress in the Play. The story continues to encourage me to keep reading and finish the play. From where I left off not much has happened. The owner Steve has basically been forced to sell The Flick to a huge corporation. This is freighting to Avery, Sam and Rose because major companies will not keep actual film movies around. Instead the would move to digital.

The Flick by Annie Baker is a play that takes place in a run-down movie theater in the central Massachusetts. I have not yet completed this book but plan to do so. Three underpaid movie theatre employees Avery, Sam and Rose clean the theatres, run the movies, sell tickets, and practically operate the whole movie theatre. We follow as the characters reveal more about themselves and a type of romantic chemistry starts to build between Avery and Rose

Since my last post in Life of Pi I have made some progress in the novel. The story continues to encourage me to keep reading and finish the book. Begging from where I left of, Pi‘s family had decided to pack up the zoo and set sail for Canada. Due to India‘s political issues the trip to Canada was now seen as a very solid idea. On June 21, 1977 his family set sail on the cargo ship called Tsimtsum filled with all the zoo animals.

In this novel we follow Pi Patel who is a sixteen year old teenage boy who is obsessed with learning about animals and people. The Patel family owns a zoo in a city called Pondicherry which is where Pi learns to love all animals. At a young age Pi was bullied by his classmates daily, they would call him “Pissing Patel”. He had to move schools and with a new attitude and confidence he made a sure this name would not follow him.
